Homebound #VacciNation

Press Release

1st August 2021

_______

#VacciNation is now Homebound

In our quest to get the nation vaccinated, the Hougton Masjid (West Street) launched a #VacciNation drive-thru in collaboration with Gauteng Provincial Department of Health and the Muslim Association of South Africa (MASA)

As an extension of the drive-thru facility, volunteer doctors and medics will now start attending to homebound residents.

Homebound persons include those that need the help of another person or medical equipment such as crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair to leave their home. It may also refer to a person whose medical provider believes that their health or illness could get worse if they leave their home, and they typically cannot move from their place of residence. It also includes frail individuals who cannot make a trip to be vaccinated due to their illness or disability.

Healthcare Professionals will ensure a safe and effective vaccination process, including the  appropriate vaccine storage temperatures, handling, administration & all COVID protocols will be intensely observed.

With the support of the Islamic Medical Association (IMA) and with and the approval of the Department of Health, volunteers will be dispatched from the Houghton Masjid facility  and will begin vaccinating home bound citizens with immediate as of Monday 2nd August.

We are humbled to play our part in ensuring continued global innovation when it comes to getting as many citizens vaccinated as possible.

Our #VacciNation drive-thru has seen an unprecedented uptake & has yielded numbers we did not expect. We look forward to always pushing the bar, working together 💉🇿🇦
