Getting youth involved in “Lemonade Street Sales for Palestinians” is truly inspiring … – Yaseen Theba
The Muslim Association of South Africa (MASA) recognises and applauds the millions of South Africans standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Palestine.
The #LemonAid initiative initiated initially by Salaam Foundation and hosted by hundreds of NPOs to raise funds to assist our Palestinian aid interventions has been received with immense support from our local communities throughout South Africa.
The overwhelming success got youth involved in communities, which will undoubtedly equip these exceptional youth with the skills and building relationships to work in solidarity across lines of difference to create more just and inclusive societies.
MASA supports these emerging icons who have the courage and capacity to change and lead change.
“It is important not just to raise funds for the Palestinian cause & ongoing humanitarian aid in Gaza, but also to raise awareness of the plight of Palestinians” said Theba.
Getting youth involved in “Lemonade Sales for Palestinians” is truly inspiring and to be in the midst of such creative & thoughtful students is a firm message to our brothers and sisters globally that we are one ummah.
The Gaza youth must know that they are not alone and they must maintain hope that a peaceful resolution to the conflict would be achieved. At the same time we must make it clear to the international community; that we are united in multiple ways to help a disadvantaged community like the children of Gaza, and that young people have a valuable contribution to make.
