Muslim Association of SA, Al Imdaad Foundation & Houghton Community Deliver Smiles To An Old Age Home in Alexandra

Following weeks of mobilizing the community of Houghton, the Muslim Association of South Africa gave back to the elderly as individuals spent their morning at the Ithokomeleng Old Age Home in Alexandra on Tuesday the 6th of August.

The association, together with the Al Imdaad Foundation and Houghton’s West Street Mosque have been mobilizing individuals in the locality to play their part and assist in distributing much needed items for the underprivileged since the beginning of this year’s bitterly cold winter period.

The elderly residents were so pleased by the kind gesture that they invited the Association to come again in the near future.

A hot nutritious meal was served for lunch which consisted of rice and lamb stew, while the Al Imdaad Foundation handed over blankets to each and every senior citizen.

The Associations Yaseen Theba says that the next step is to build on the relationship with the management of the Old Age Home.

“This is not a once off thing, we should keep in contact and discuss some of the challenges that the home has and we will then be able to work out solutions.”

Theba thanked the sponsors who were involved in giving and sacrificing their time to ensure the day went smoothly.
